PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE (PHP)
HOT MEALS PROGRAM (FTH)
This program has been well received in the community and we feel GOD'S name has been honored and glorified by this service. Jesus says that if we are able, we are to take care of those in need of help, and when we serve those in need, we are actually serving HIM!!! That has been the attitude of the many volunteers that come out once A month (And most are willing to fill in as needed in Addition to their "One" night). Dr. Ogden has taken a night as well as the Goldendale Girls Scouts. On Tuesday nights the Methodist Church is in charge. They invite various churches and organizations to participate. So far the Lutheran, Catholic & Baptist churches, and the Grange and Goldendale High School have served on Tuesdays. It has become quite a community affair! We are still serving between 30 to 60 people each night. It makes it a little difficult to plan how much food to prepare, but we typically prepare a little more than needed, and we always find a few eager souls to take left over's home. God has blessed abundantly! Over the past year friends have come and gone. Richard is ONE; he actually attended our church once and said he thoroughly enjoyed it. He moved away to live with a relative. Chet finished with the windmill project south of Goldendale and went "Back Home" to be with wife and family before moving on to another site in California. Unfortunately, while home, his life was tragically taken. We miss Richard and Chet. There have been others. Bless Marian's heart, she and Raleigh are so faith full in bringing those who are unable to come unless transported. We really appreciate Marian's support! To liven things up a bit, Dr. Ogden & wife have been coming when they can. She plays the piano and Dr. Ogden plays his violin and accordion. We all enjoy the music. We have prayed with 2 or 3 of the attendees in the past year, and we have celebrated at least 3 births. If you would like to volunteer a night a month, Please talk with Dave Carl. 509-773-3280 or dcyccarl@yahoo.com.
DEPRESSION SEMINAR
During January and February 2010 Joan Robins led out in Neal Nedley's depression seminar. It was held in the
Riverview Community Bank's conference room and over 20 people per night attended, including 3 - 4 "Regulars"
from the community. It was so well liked, that some asked that it be repeated, which Joan plans on doing during
January and February 2011 - location to be determined.
Total cost for 2009 - 2010 $541.63
BAGS OF FOOD FOR SENIOR SERVICES
One of our ladies dropped into Senior Services one day and noticed bags of groceries on the floor. She asked
what they were for, and was told that at times some seniors come desperate for food, and the receptionist had, on her own brought bags of groceries for those emergencies for those emergencies. So our committee voted to help out. Linda Browning leads out in buying a few groceries and making up bags that are available as she gets a phone call or drops by to visit the center.
Cost for 2009 - 2010 $120.56
HELPING HANDS
This is a relatively new program started around may of 2010. You have seen the brochures that are in plastic holders which have been placed in various business around Goldendale. Response has been a little slow, which is good. It gives us time to "LEARN" how to respond, and who to ask to respond. There are 9 "HOLDERS" out right now and the Businesses are very pleased to display them. A sample of what we have done so far:
1. Cut up fallen trees for fire wood
2. Maintenance / Small plumbing/elec.
3. Packing and moving household
4. Cleaning a house
If you would like to volunteer to help occasionally talk with Diane Musten. 509-773-6850
